1978 - 1980
1978 – April Wine is signed to Capitol Records for the rest of the world and releases “First Glance”. At first it looks like “First Glance” isn’t doing well, not even in Canada – however, the third single, “Roller”, breaks the band. Ironically, “Roller” was never chosen as a single by Aquarius or Capitol. It was originally championed by a radio programmer in Flint, Michigan and from there it quickly spread to Detroit and Las Vegas and then on to the rest of the World.
1980 – April Wine releases “Harder… Faster” and is established as a touring attraction in America. “Harder… Faster” becomes the band’s first American Gold record. It includes one of the band’s signature songs, “I Like to Rock” as well as a song that stays on the Canadian radio charts for over 6 months, “Say Hello”.
